New to Durham Region or just moved? Get your free waste diversion kit!
Whitby, Ontario – The Durham Region Works Department is reminding residents that free waste diversion kits are available to Durham residents who are new to the region or who have recently moved into a new home. To get your free kit, fill out the New Resident Diversion Kit Form on the Region’s website.
What:
Each kit contains:
- Two blue boxes
- One large green bin
- One kitchen container
- One waste management calendar
When: Waste diversion kits are available year-round.
Where: Households across Durham Region who currently receive curbside collection services.
Why: To help Durham residents participate in the Region’s Blue Box and Green Bin programs.
Note: If you are moving to a new or resale house and you already have a green bin and blue boxes, please take them with you.
Broken Bins? Bring them in. Replacements are provided free of charge. Bring your broken bins, for exchange, the Waste Management Centre located at 4600 Garrard Rd. in Whitby, or to the new Household Special Waste Depot located at 1998 Bowmanville Ave. in Clarington. Some local municipal offices may exchange broken blue boxes and green bins. Visit durham.ca/Waste for more information.
