New traffic signal timing at Stevenson Road intersections in Oshawa
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of updated traffic signal timing at two intersections on Stevenson Road (Regional Road 53) in the City of Oshawa.
When: As of January 12, the new signal timing will be implemented. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: At the intersections of Stevenson Road and King Street, and Stevenson Road and Bond Street.
Why: The traffic signals on Stevenson Road are changing from having the northbound and southbound left-turn green arrows at the end of the traffic signal rotation to having it at the start. This change is being made to provide consistency with other traffic signal timing in the Region. Similar changes have already been made on Park Road at both the King Street and Bond Street intersections. The Region is also planning to implement the same operation on Ritson Road at the King Street and Bond Street intersections in the near future.
Drivers should remember to follow all traffic control signals as outlined in the Highway Traffic Act. Learn more about traffic control signals and traffic safety at durham.ca/traffic.
Note: This initiative is in support of Durham Vision Zero, a long-term plan to ensure the safest possible transportation system that sees no lives lost or serious injuries on Durham’s roadways. Learn more at durham.ca/VisionZero.
