Overnight closures of Celina Street in downtown Oshawa this week as part of Athol Street construction
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise residents of additional traffic restrictions as part of the Athol Street construction project to install new watermains and sewers.
When and where: Celina Street, between King Street and Athol Street, will be closed nightly from Tuesday, April 2 to Friday, April 5 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Athol Street, between Centre Street South and Mary Street in the City of Oshawa, continues to operate one-way for eastbound traffic only. This project is expected to be complete by August. Unfavourable weather conditions may affect the work schedule.
Why: Overnight work is required to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Durham Region is replacing watermains and sanitary sewers on Athol Street, between Centre Street South and Albert Street.
Note: Businesses remain open, and access for local businesses and residents will be maintained at all times. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
