Plan your route by following our line painting crews on Waze!
Each year, from May to October, the Region implements line painting operations on Durham roads to ensure roadway markings are easily visible and reflective.
To ease your commute, the Region has equipped our road painting trucks with new technology that allows residents to view the location of painting operations in real-time. Residents can now plan their route by following our line painting crews on Waze—an innovative live traffic and navigation app.
Line painting is a moving operation that progresses at reduced speeds to ensure the proper application of road paint. Follow-up trucks travel behind the trucks applying paint to act as a buffer and allow sufficient paint drying time.
If approaching line painting operations, drivers are reminded to please be patient, exercise caution, and keep a safe distance back from the follow-up trucks. The applied paint contains glass beads to make the colour reflective, and attempting to cross freshly painted lines can damage your vehicle and compromise the quality of reflective roadway lines.
