Public Information Centre for additional sanitary sewage treatment plant capacity for Newcastle
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is holding a virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) to provide an update on the amendment to the Newcastle Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) Class Environmental Assessment (EA). Public consultation is required on the proposed solutions to provide additional sanitary sewage treatment plant capacity at the Newcastle WPCP.
When: January 11 to February 11.
Where: The virtual PIC is available online at durham.ca/NewcastleWPCP.
Why: Public consultation is an important part of the Municipal Class EA process. The PIC has been planned to obtain feedback on the recommendations to increase sanitary sewage treatment plant capacity at the Newcastle WPCP.
Note: The PIC includes:
- An overview of the Class EA process and project status to date.
- A summary of the current capacity and the need for additional sanitary sewage treatment plant capacity.
- A discussion of the options available to upgrade and increase the wastewater treatment plant capacity.
- Proposed recommendations for a solution for the treatment capacity at Newcastle WPCP.
- Next steps for the project.
