Public Information Centre on the Port Perry Water Supply Class EA Study
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department will be holding a Public Information Centre (PIC) on the Port Perry Water Supply Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study in the Township of Scugog.
When: Wednesday, June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Scugog Memorial Public Library at 231 Water Street in Port Perry
Why: The Region of Durham is undertaking a Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) to plan for additional water supply and storage capacity to service the Port Perry Urban Area, and to improve naturally occurring aesthetic characteristics—taste, odour and colour—of the existing water supply.
Based on previous consultations with the public and agencies, the Region of Durham’s recommended approach is to install an additional municipal well, construct a new water treatment plant, and construct a new elevated water tower. This recommended solution would also allow for a new bulk water filling station at the new elevated water tower. This PIC will present the conceptual designs.
Note: Representatives from the study team will be present at the PIC to provide information and address any questions. Following this PIC, an Environmental Study Report (ESR) will be prepared to document the findings and recommendations.
