Public review invited on York Region Sewage Works Project Report
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipalities of York and Durham are working together to carry out the York Region Sewage Works Project, a long-term wastewater infrastructure project spanning across Ajax and Pickering in Durham Region and several cities and towns in York Region. The public is invited to review and comment on the project report until December 4 by visiting durham.ca/YorkDurhamSewageProject.
As required by the Supporting Growth and Housing in York and Durham Regions Act, 2022, the York Region Sewage Works Project will increase the existing capacity of the York Durham Sewage System, including new or expanded wastewater sewers, pumping stations and enhancements to the Duffin Creek Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) on the shore of Lake Ontario in the City of Pickering.
The York Region Sewage Works Project Report outlines the infrastructure components and costs, impacts to the environment and how those impacts will be mitigated.
