Region hosting virtual open houses for our Community Safety and Well-Being Plan
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to seek feedback from the public on the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWP) with three upcoming virtual open houses. The CSWP is being developed in partnership with the Durham Regional Police Service and in collaboration with local area municipalities, community partners and the public. The CSWP will identify strategies and programs to address local priorities related to crime and complex social issues, on a sustainable basis.
Community safety and well-being describes a place where everyone feels safe, has a sense of belonging, where individuals and families’ needs are met for education, health care, food, housing, income, as well as social and cultural expression. A CSWP involves approaching service delivery in an integrated manner by working across a range of sectors, agencies, and organizations; assisting partners whose mandate is focused on community safety and wellness.
