Regional Chair brings Eid al-Fitr greetings

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“As the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to Muslim communities in Durham Region, Canada and around the world, as they begin Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

I am truly inspired by the dedication and devotion displayed by the Muslim community during Ramadan. Durham strives to be a safe and welcoming region where the accomplishments of diverse residents are celebrated.

During this joyous time, families and loved ones will gather to take part in special prayers; prepare and share meals; and offer gifts, charitable donations and embraces—traditions that bring communities together and foster a strong sense of belonging; and contribute to our region’s vibrancy.
