Regional Chair statement on Durham Regional Police Service’s Change of Command
Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:
“Safe and healthy communities ensure residents feel secure in their own home and the area in which they live. On behalf of the Region of Durham and our residents, I would like to thank Durham Regional Police Service’s (DRPS) Retired Chief Todd Rollauer, for his decades of dedicated service to our region.
It is an honour and a privilege to have worked closely with such an inspiring individual.
Under Chief Rollauer’s leadership, our communities have seen an enhanced commitment to the safety and well-being of Durham Region’s residents. His extensive leadership experience helped to shape the Region’s first Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. It’s a co-ordinated approach, designed to improve communication and collaboration among DRPS and partner agencies. The end goal: to create and ensure safe and supportive communities for all.
Thank you for your many years of outstanding service and dedication to the residents of Durham Region.
I sincerely look forward to working collaboratively with DRPS’s incoming Chief of Police, Chief Peter Moreira. Known for his relationship building and dedication to diversity, we look forward to watching him serve our vibrant communities with exemplary leadership and commitment. No doubt further solidifying Durham Region as a safe, healthy and welcoming community.”
