Regional Chair statement on the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“Tomorrow (May 6), people around the world will watch as the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, takes place at Westminster Abbey in London.

His Majesty King Charles III acceded to the Throne on September 8, 2022, following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II—who is remembered for her 70 years as a historic Sovereign with a strong sense of duty and commitment to service.

This historic occasion will mark the first coronation in seven decades. To commemorate this significant event, Regional Headquarters will be lit green from today (Friday, May 5) to Monday, May 8.”
