Regional e-mobility by-law draft review
Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region is currently soliciting public feedback and comments to help shape the draft Regional E-Scooter By-law.
When: Monday, December 13, 2021 to Friday, February 11, 2022.
Where: Feedback can be provided at yourvoice.durham.ca/e-scooter-bylaw or by emailing emobility@durham.ca.
Why: In response to the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario’s (MTO) implementation of a new five-year pilot program that permits electric kick scooters (e-scooters) on Ontario’s roads, the Region of Durham is proposing the creation of a new Regional e-scooter By-law that will clearly outline regulations that define and enable the safe operation of e-scooter devices and establish measures to enforce their safe operation on regional roads and property.
The Regional E-scooter By-law will identify where and how e-scooters can be used in Durham Region to support user safety, establish clear requirements for safe operation, and reduce road, sidewalk, path and trail conflicts.
Note: Your voice matters! Please submit questions or comments on the draft E-scooter By-law through the form at yourvoice.durham.ca/e-scooter-bylaw or email emobility@durham.ca.
