Residents are invited to view the revised 2022 Building Activity Review
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham invites residents to view the revised 2022 Building Activity Review, which summarizes key results of the 2022 Annual Building Activity Review. This annual report includes building permit and construction activity for Durham Region and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) for 2022, with comparisons to 2021.
Where: The revised 2022 Building Activity Review can be viewed online at durham.ca.
Why: The Planning and Economic Development Department conducts ongoing monitoring activities to assess the effectiveness of the Durham Regional Official Plan and other Regional policies. These monitoring activities assist in identifying emerging issues and trends. Building activity is also an indicator of regional housing and employment activity, the level of local investment and economic performance.
This review provides a comprehensive analysis of construction activity, including residential building activity from the start of the process to the construction and ultimate sale of new residential units into the market. It also provides an analysis of non-residential construction activity and concludes with a comparison of Durham’s building activity with GTHA municipalities. The 2022 Building Activity Review was originally released on May 5. Updated information has since been received from some of the area municipalities and the appropriate adjustments have been made.
