Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is advising residents of upcoming construction around the intersection of Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) and Winchester Road (Regional Road 3) in Oshawa.
When: Work will begin in February and is expected to be complete by the end of the year. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: The intersection of Simcoe Street and Winchester Road in the City of Oshawa.
Why: Roadwork includes road reconstruction, additional lanes, new curb and gutter, new traffic signals, street lighting and hydro duct banks.
Note: The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive, and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
Following the completion of this work, the Region plans to widen Simcoe Street from north of Conlin Road to south of Winchester Road. This widening project will include the installation of two new traffic signals (at Windfields Farm Drive and Northern Dancer Drive); sidewalks/multi-use paths; and street lighting.
