Seasonal leaf and yard waste collections ending
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is reminding residents that seasonal leaf and yard waste collection is ending and will resume in the spring of 2019.
The last curbside collections for leaf and yard waste in the Town of Ajax, Municipality of Clarington, City of Pickering, and the Townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge will take place the week of December 3.
Leaf and yard waste collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of those individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. These residents are asked to check their waste calendars, or contact their local municipality, regarding the collection of these items and any set-out limits.
Place yard waste in kraft paper bags, or clearly labelled rigid open-top reusable containers. Securely tie brush in bundles up to one metre (three feet) in length and 76 centimetres (30 inches) in width, weighing no more than 20 kilograms (44 pounds). Brush and tree trimmings must be 10 centimetres (four inches) or less in diameter. Yard waste set out in plastic bags will not be collected.
Residents should check the collection calendar, download the Durham Region Waste App or visit durham.ca/waste to see their specific collection days and collection frequency.
Residents who miss their final collection date may also drop off leaf and yard waste at any of Durham’s Waste Management Facilities during regular hours of operation (disposal fees will apply).
