Sign up for the Canada Learning Bond online
Whitby, Ontario – In recognition of November being Financial Literacy Month, The Regional Municipality of Durham is launching the Canada Learning Bond Sign-up web page to help eligible residents access this benefit. The Canada Learning Bond allows eligible families to receive up to $2,000 for their child’s post-secondary education from the Government of Canada.
Research indicates that children with education savings are more likely to attend and graduate post-secondary school. The Canada Learning Bond helps families begin to save for their child’s education, with no personal deposit required.
To qualify for the Canada Learning Bond, the household income must be less than $48,000 per year and the child must be born in 2004 or later. The benefit would be deposited directly into a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP).
The Canada Learning Bond Sign-up webpage features information and support to access the Canada Learning Bond, an RESP, and the identification needed, such as a Birth Certificate and Social Insurance Number.
