Special Meeting of Durham Regional Council planned for final draft Regional Official Plan
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has released the recommended final draft Regional Official Plan (ROP) and scheduled a special meeting of Durham Regional Council to consider adoption of the recommended ROP. The new ROP is the culmination of work completed through Envision Durham, the Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR) of Durham’s existing ROP. Materials to be considered at this special meeting, including the recommended final draft ROP, are available today at durham.ca/EnvisionDurham.
When: The hybrid special meeting will take place on May 17 at 9:30 a.m.
Where: Council Chambers, Durham Region Headquarters (605 Rossland Road East, Whitby). Participants may also view the meeting remotely via livestream at durham.ca/Live.
Why: This Special Meeting is being held to discuss the final revisions addressed through Envision Durham. The recommended ROP addresses a wide variety of strategic land use planning and development matters. It also represents the Region’s provincially mandated exercise to ensure that the ROP conforms with current Provincial plans or does not conflict with them; takes account of provincial interest; and is consistent with the current Provincial Policy Statement. It is anticipated that a decision on the recommended final draft ROP will take place at this special meeting of Council.
