Statement by Regional Chair John Henry on the Durham Region 2023 Ontario Parasport Games

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer:

“Tomorrow is a big day in Durham Region. On February 3, the Durham Region 2023 Ontario Parasport Games get underway. We are honoured to host these Games once again; grateful for the opportunity to witness the passion and community pride the games inspire.

I am proud of the work we continue to do to create welcoming and inclusive communities that support equal opportunities for people of all abilities. These Games reflect our commitment to accessibility and inclusion, and demonstrate our love for sport.

Not only do these Games celebrate parasport and community pride, they also positively impact accessible sport opportunities in the region through legacy initiatives.

Thank you to everyone who has worked tirelessly behind-the-scenes to make this event possible—our experienced and inclusive Games Organizing Committee, exceptional volunteers, host venues, partners and sponsors. We are grateful for your contributions and shared vision.
