Statement from Regional Chair John Henry on Rosh Hashanah

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“This evening, the Jewish community will come together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. The two days of Rosh Hashanah usher in the Ten Days of Repentance, also known as the Days of Awe, which culminate in the major fast day of Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

It is both a time of rejoicing and of serious introspection; a time to celebrate the completion of another year while also taking stock of one’s life.

On behalf of myself and Durham Regional Council, I want to wish a happy Rosh Hashanah to everyone in Durham who celebrates this joyous occasion.”
