Statement from Regional Chair on Canada Day

Whitby, Ontario – The following statement is being issued on behalf of John Henry, Regional Chair and Chief Executive Officer for The Regional Municipality of Durham:

“Today, we celebrate one of the best countries in the world. In Canada, we stand with each other—proud of our diversity and united in our hopes for the future.

Our nation’s success comes from the strength of its people. In these challenging and unpredictable times, Canadians have shown tremendous resilience; lifting each other up and uniting in solidarity.

In light of the ongoing pandemic in Canada, it’s important that now, more than ever, we celebrate our communities, vibrant region and a great nation. I encourage everyone, from across the region, to tune into our virtual celebration Canada Day the Durham Way. Let’s celebrate our amazing country, together.
