Upcoming lane restrictions and closures on Columbus Road East in Oshawa
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions and closures on Columbus Road East (Regional Road 3) in the City of Oshawa.
When: August 6, 2024 through September 2025. Unfavourable weather conditions and the Region’s contractor schedule may influence the work schedule.
Where: Columbus Road East, from 150 metres west of Grandview Street to 75 metres east of Townline Road; and on Grandview Street, from 1100 metres south of Columbus Road to 100 metres north of Columbus Road, in the City of Oshawa.
Why: Daily lane restrictions will be required for the duration of the project to facilitate road reconstruction and road rehabilitation. Full closures of Columbus Road East at the intersection of Grandview Street North will be required intermittently throughout the construction seasons. Traffic detours will be established and communicated redirecting traffic around the closures.
Note: There will be a winter shutdown period of construction work between December 2024 and May 2025. Work will resume in May 2025 with the final completion anticipated in September 2025.
The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
