Upcoming lane restrictions and closures on Taunton Road East in Whitby

This PSA has been updated to reflect the most recent information.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions and lane closures on Taunton Road East in the Town of Whitby.

When: Westbound lane restrictions begin August 23, followed by full westbound lane closures August 24 to 26. Lane closures will remain until end of day August 26. Unfavourable weather conditions and the Region’s contractor schedule may influence the work schedule.

Where: Westbound lane restrictions and lane closures on Taunton Road East (Regional Road 4) from 300 metres east of Garden Street to Garden Street, in the Town of Whitby.

The detour route will be as follows: Taunton Road East to Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) to Rossland Road (Regional Road 28), to Brock Street (Regional Road 12), to Taunton Road East. The detour route will be signed as D-1.

Why: Daily lane restrictions/closures will be required for the duration of the project to safely replace a water valve.

The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of work crews.
