Upcoming road closures on Townline Road in Oshawa and Clarington
This Public Service Announcement has been updated to reflect the most current information regarding Stage 2 of the project.
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure on Townline Road in the City of Oshawa and Municipality of Clarington.
When and where: Townline Road between Beatrice Street East and Coldstream Drive in Oshawa will be closed to traffic in stages throughout construction. Current and upcoming closures:
Stage 1B
Townline Road from north of Whitelaw Avenue to Taunton Road will be closed to through traffic beginning April 11. Due to the nature of the work and progress towards the Townline Road and Taunton Road intersection, this closure will be extended to align with the postponed closure in Stage 2. Local traffic and emergency services will be required to use the signed detour routes.
Stage 2
Update: The planned closure of the Taunton Road and Townline Road intersection between May 3 to May 31 is postponed due to the nature of the work and progress. The closure will be rescheduled in the coming weeks as the ongoing construction work approaches the intersection. Rescheduled dates will be communicated prior to the closure.
Stage 3
Townline Road from north of Taunton Road to Coldstream Drive is currently closed and will remain closed until the end of July.
Why: To safely install new sanitary sewers, a new storm sewer, a local watermain and to conduct road reconstruction.

The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.
