Update #2 - Water use restrictions lifted in the Town of Ajax
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that mandatory water use restrictions have been lifted for the Town of Ajax. The water use restrictions were necessary, following the trunk sanitary sewer break in Lord Elgin Park, to reduce the flow into the sanitary sewer system during the excessive rain fall last week.
“We want to thank residents and businesses for their co-operation during the mandatory water use restrictions,” said Susan Siopis, Commissioner of Works. “Although the water use restrictions have been lifted, the repair to the trunk sanitary sewer is expected to continue for another couple weeks. It is possible that temporary water restrictions may be required again during the course of the repair.”
Lord Elgin Park remains closed to the public. An exact timeline for the closure is not known at this time, but it is estimated to be several weeks. All access points to Lord Elgin Park have been restricted with fencing.
The Region apologizes for the inconvenience that some of our customers may experience.
