Update #3 Lord Elgin Park trunk sanitary sewer repairs completed in the Town of Ajax
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that the underground repairs of the trunk sanitary sewer in Lord Elgin Park in the Town of Ajax are complete. The by-pass pumps have been decommissioned and are currently being prepared for removal. The sanitary sewer system in this area is back to normal operation.
“The trunk sanitary sewer break that occurred in Lord Elgin Park was extensive, making it difficult and time-consuming to repair,” said Susan Siopis, Commissioner of the Works Department. “We greatly appreciate the public’s co-operation and patience while these repairs took place.”
Lord Elgin Park remains closed to the public while the site is cleaned up and restored to its previous condition. This work will continue for the next couple of weeks. The clean-up and restoration efforts have been slowed due to the amount of rain experienced over the past few weeks. All access points to Lord Elgin Park have been restricted with fencing and it will remain until the park is re-opened.
The Region apologizes for the inconvenience that some of our customers may experience.
