Update: Construction at Kingston and Westney roads in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction work will continue to cause lane restrictions at the intersection of Kingston Road (Durham Regional Highway 2) and Westney Road (Regional Road 31), in Ajax.

Recent favourable weather conditions have allowed the contractor to resume some storm sewer work, which will continue as weather allows. In addition, a noise barrier wall is being constructed on the south side of Kingston Road, which is expected to be complete in March.

When: Work began in August last year and is expected to be complete by the end of the summer. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: The intersection of Kingston Road (Durham Regional Highway 2) and Westney Road (Regional Road 31), in the Town of Ajax.

Why: This project includes storm sewer replacement, road widening, sidewalk reconstruction, traffic signal replacements, and the addition of bus-only and bicycle lanes.

Note: The Region realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and construction workers.
