UPDATE: Road closures on Hibbard Drive and Rossland Road West due to watermain construction on Harwood Avenue North in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of two temporary road closures on Hibbard Drive and Rossland Road West due to ongoing construction at Harwood Avenue North, from Kerrison Drive West to Rossland Road West, in the Town of Ajax.

When: Hibbard Drive will be closed from July 6 to 7. Rossland Road West will be closed on July 9. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Hibbard Drive and Rossland Road West, at Harwood Avenue North, in the Town of Ajax.

Why: To safely construct a new watermain.

Note: Traffic will be diverted by a signed detour route. Municipal construction projects include the use of equipment which may cause noticeable noise and vibration for nearby residents. The Region realizes that the construction work will be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Lane restrictions on Harwood Avenue North in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham advises residents of lane restrictions on Harwood Avenue North in the Town of Ajax.

When: Ongoing until November 2020. Unfavourable weather may influence the work schedule.   

Where: Southbound lanes of Harwood Avenue North, from Kerrison Drive West to Rossland Road West in Ajax will be closed with all traffic shifted east of the centre median. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the northbound lanes for the duration of construction.

Why: Watermain construction.

Note: Hibbard Drive, Fishlock Street and Rossland Road West may be closed temporarily to facilitate road crossings and connection to existing infrastructure.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews. Please also be advised, in response to COVID-19 the Province of Ontario has identified the maintenance and repair of critical infrastructure including roads as an essential service, according to the latest update of essential workplaces.
