Waste collection schedule changes during the holidays

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents of changes to curbside blue box, green bin and garbage collection due to the holidays.

When and where: Across Durham Region, waste collection scheduled for Tuesday, December 25 will be moved to the following day. This shift will continue through the rest of the week, ending with the Friday, December 28 collection being moved to Saturday, December 29.

Collection will also be shifted the following week, beginning on Tuesday, January 1 and ending on Saturday, January 5.

Why: Changes to waste collection are taking place in observance of Christmas Day and New Year’s Day statutory holidays.

Note: Durham Region’s waste management facilities and call centre will also have revised hours of operation during the holidays.
