Water conservation for Beaverton residents
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise residents and businesses that water conservation measures will be in effect for municipal water supply users in Beaverton while staff inspect and clean the Beaverton Standpipe (water storage facility).
When: Now until June 5. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Beaverton, Township of Brock
Why: An internal inspection and cleaning of the Beaverton Standpipe (water storage facility) is necessary to ensure the water storage infrastructure is in the best condition.
The water conservation measures are necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection.
Note: All municipal water supply customers within Beaverton are asked to practice water conservation measures and discontinue all non-essential outdoor water use—for example, cleaning driveways or decks, or washing cars.
Special efforts are being made to maintain normal water service during this program, however, some customers may experience pressure fluctuations. While the work is underway, select hydrants may discharge or spout water, this is done to help control water pressure in the system.
The Region regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks customers for their co-operation. For water conservation tips, visit durham.ca/WaterConservation, or contact our Technical Support Division at 905-668-7711 (toll-free 1-800-372-1102).
