Watermain break closes portion of Bayly Street in Pickering
Update: Bayly Street was re-opened the evening of Friday, November 15.
Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of a road closure on Bayly Street, between Begley Street and the West Shore Community Centre (1011 Bayly Street) in Pickering, due to a watermain break.
When: The road will be closed until the watermain is repaired. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Bayly Street, between Begley Street and the West Shore Community Centre (1011 Bayly Street) in the City Pickering.
Why: Crews are working to repair the watermain and road.
Note: Residents and businesses in the immediate area may experience a temporary water service interruption or decrease in water pressure during the repair. When the water service returns to normal, it is important for customers to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five to 10 minutes to clean out any sediment that may have accumulated in your water service. This will avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.
The Region realizes that the work is disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and the work crews.
