Why: Public input is essential to the success of Envision Durham. The introductory Public Opinion Survey provided an early opportunity for interested individuals, regardless of existing planning-related knowledge or experience, to share their views and vision for Durham Region. Common themes included: balancing population growth with employment growth; protecting and enhancing rural landscapes and the natural environment; increasing economic development, job and transit opportunities; and the need to intensify (rather than build outward) yet maintain the elements that make Durham Region a great place to live, work, play, grow and invest.
Note: Envision Durham is an opportunity to plan for change, by establishing a progressive and forward-looking planning vision for the region to 2041. Our vision is to create healthy and complete, sustainable communities within the region, and shape Durham into a great place to live, work, play, grow and invest.
