It takes a lot of work to keep our water systems running. That's why we designed different programs to improve water quality and make our watermains and systems last longer.
Water and wastewater programs include:
Cement mortar lining of watermains |
- Cleaning the inside of iron watermains and coating them in thin layers of cement.
- This improves water quality and quantity.
|
Structural lining of watermains |
- Cleaning the inside of iron watermains and inserting structural liners.
- This restores the watermain and improves water quality and quantity.
|
Cathodic protection |
- Installing sacrificial anodes on watermains.
- This reduces watermain corrosion and makes it last longer.
|
Foam swabbing |
- Cleaning the inside of a watermain using foam swabs.
- This improves water quality and maintains chlorine levels in the supply system.
|
Leak detection |
- Checking the watermain for leaks using specialized equipment.
- This reduces water loss and potential property damage from leaks.
|
Sewer connection repairs |
- Cleaning and inserting a structural liner in the connection from the building to the sewer.
- This program is ongoing throughout the Region's sewer collection system.
|
CCTV inspections |
- Monitoring the inside of sewers using video cameras.
- This detects problems within our collection system.
- This program is ongoing throughout our sewer collection system.
|
Hydrojet sewer cleaning |
- Cleaning sewers with high pressure water.
- This removes build-up from inside of the sewer collection system.
- This program is ongoing throughout the Region's sewer collection system.
|
Sewer rehabilitation |
- Cleaning and fixing the inside of the sewer collection system.
- This program is ongoing throughout the Region's sewer collection system.
|
Lead service replacement |
- Replacing lead service connections.
- This program is ongoing throughout the Region's drinking water system.
|
Backflow prevention |
- Finding possible cross-connections in the drinking water system.
- Installing backflow preventers to protect drinking water.
